Race 4 – 12.5 Mile ITT Katesbridge Loop 17 May 18. This event was originally to be 15.5 miles long however was changed owing to road works in Annaclone.
Race 3 – 10 Mile 2Up TTT Lurgan Rd, Dromore 3 May 18. This event was not the scheduled event and was a fairly late change owing to concerns over the original venue and the impact of preparation for the Tandragee 100 Motorcycle Race. The venue and race specifics were publicised on club social media, however even though the results were to be used for our league it was a small turn out of just 3 pairings joined Dromara CC (Hosts, WDW and Dromore CC. Fastest pairing at club level were JD and Gordy B whom as a recognised pairing this year, put in a good performance in the drizzle and winds. Timings below. Our thanks to Dromara CC for hosting the event.
Race 2 – 10 Mile ITT Plantation Rd, 19 Apr. After a long winter it seems Spring is eventually upon us. Blue Sky’s, sunshine, dry roads and a temp of 16c made for almost perfect race conditions, bar a swirling wind that seemed to drop a little as the first riders departed.
24 Competitors took part, with 8 club riders and 16 guests representing Powerhouse, Dromore CC, Apollo CT, TVR, Cornerstone CC, WDW, Banbridge CC and Dromara CC.
Forget Will Grigg, Lindsay Watson is on fire as is closer to home John Davidson. With the almost ideal conditions on offer, there were a large number of PB’s posted, proving there’s been no slacking regarding training, over the cold winter. Huge plaudits to Lindsay Watson of Powerhouse Sports who ripped up the road at 21.05 destroying our course record by 18 seconds, a record previously held by Chris McGlinchy. Super work. On the night Fergal Magee of Apollo was second quickest at 23.12 with Mark Johnston VCI third fastest at 23.39.
At club level some great improvement has been noted, with most posting PB’s or on a power to previous years. With handicap targets in play the win went to John Davidson whom had a target of 26.09 and whom posted 23.44 on the night at – 00:02:25. Second was an impressive ride from Gordon McAvoy targeting 26.22 and posting 24.36 at – 00:01:46. Third was Ronnie Massey whom had a target of 26.17 posting a PB 25.30 – 00:00:47.
As ever a massive thanks to all those who took part and to our marshals and timekeepers who make such events possible. See you all in a few weeks!
Race 1 – was a 2 Up TTT on the Rathfriland Rd on 5 April and as ever was handicapped. This was a difficult event owing to dry but windy conditions. Mark and Neil were favourites to post the quickest time, however with handicapping it was anticipated unlikely they would hold off higher handicaps. Flying on the evening were Gordy and JD who were impressively strong in the wind. Neil and Mark had a combined Target of 24.13 and recorded a 26.55 time giving +2.42, club winners on the night Gordy and JD had a target of 26.04 and did a 26.18 and only 14 seconds over their target. Our third pairing Brian and Ronnie had a combined target of 27.19 and came in at 29.27 at +2.08. Points and placings below. Several took part individually however whilst maybe gaining valuable set up tweaks or training, unfortunately gain no points.
