BICRL – Event One

Run under some superb weather, event one in the Banbridge Inter Club Race ripped the roads up around the hilly 8.3km Kinallen. 67 riders from 9 clubs signed up to take part with the hosting responsibilities on Banbridge Cycling Club.

This was an outstanding event with a great buzz around before, during and after. All took part in great spirit and camaraderie and produced some great racing throughout the field. With the League Series focused largely on the results of the main 3 clubs and how they’re best 8 riders perform there was an edge to the event that created a fight for every position. Representing VCI and flying the club colours were Ronnie, Neil, Jonty , JD, Pete, Ivan, Davy, Richie, Dan, William and Colin. This was a super representation of the club and all road superbly. Best placed on the night for the club was an in form JD whom finished a fantastic 8thin a field that saw (to name but a few) the likes of Lindsay Watson, Gareth McKee, David Montgomery and John Buller, some of the best in Ulster. Next 2 for the club were Dan 14th and Mark 15th. Following on Richie 18th, Pete 24th, Gordy 28th, Ronnie 29th, Neil 35th, William 39th, and Colin 43rd.   With our scores combined we scored 171 within the BICRL which placed us second behind Banbridge Cycling Club who scored 81, third was Team Vision Racing on 253 and Cornerstone fourth on 325.league results

This was a fabulous start to the league, with a deserved thanks to Banbridge for hosting the first event and getting the series off to a great start. Big thanks to Geof as ever for the photographs now on the BICRL FB Page and to Kevin and Brian for supporting the club by fulfilling our marshalling commitment. Next event Wed 13th June with VCI to host.
