We had low numbers on club rides this weekend not because everyone took a lazy fit but because most attended Banbridge CC’s Leisure Tour.
Forecast unfortunately wasn’t looking great however we still had 7 members take part some doing the long route and some going for the shorter route. Sign on took place in Banbridge Hockey Club between 8-9, once signed on members got a goody bag and tea and coffee were available.
It had rained heavy during the night/early morning but come time to set off there was no rain just wet roads, the riders quickly split up into different groups with different abilities as they headed through Gilford, Tandragee, Scarva, Poyntzpass & Loughbrickland.
Heading for Rathfriland there was a planned coffee stop offering some light refreshments in Rathfriland Community Centre.
After the stop those on the shorter route headed back to Banbridge via Ballyroney and Katesbridge. Those giving the longer route a go headed for Kilkoo from Rathfiland were they met some short sharp hills, they then turned at Bryansford to make their way home via the Lacken Rd, Ballyroney and Katesbridge.
A very well organised and marshaled route, there were marshals at all junctions to help the riders pass safely as well as signs to make sure no one took a wrong turn.
Once back to the Hockey club there was hotdogs on offer as well as tea/coffee and cakes and buns.
Thanks to all at Banbridge CC for organising a great event
