The Iveagh 50 sportive wouldn’t be made possible if it was for peoples kind donations of food stuff and equipment for cooking.
Before the event can even take place we need a venue to host it, Banbridge Rugby Club have kindly let us use their club and facilities for the 4th year running and we are very great full of this, it means for everyone taking part there is somewhere they can change and use toilets and also park their cars. Then on their return they can sit and chat and refuel. Special mention to John Wood for getting up early to open up for us.
The BBQ this year was given to us by Rev Dreaning from Bessbrook Methodist Church, without this large BBQ we would be unable to cook the burgers for such large numbers.
Toals Shop in Glasker kindly donated half of the bill for all the food for the day, thank you Eric and Geoff this is much appreciated.
Prizes for the raffle were donated by Katriona and Chain Reaction Cycles, winners from the raffle received a voucher from katriona who specialise in high quality ladies clothing and wedding wear. CRC provided mechanical support on the morning, goodie filled water bottles for each participant and broom wagon but also donated 3 mini pumps as prizes in the raffle.
New Haven Cafe in Lurgan provided us with the soup and rolls for after the event, with the weather being a bit wet soup was welcomed on the return to the rugby Club, thank you Jenny.
St Johns Ambulance member Charlotte Bradley gave up her morning and travelled in one of the broom wagons behind the riders, each rider had an emergency card with Chatlottes number on it incase of an accident, thank you Charlotte!
Keel Wheelers motor cycle club who again gave up their morning to help make the route safe, They lead the riders out of the rugby club car park they would marshal both routes along with the VCI static marshals to ensure the event ran safe and smooth with no incidents. Thanks Keel Wheelers
Last but not least we give thanks to all the VCI Members who not only provided help on the morning and after with clearing up, they also brought cakes, buns and tray bakes for afterwards, if it wasn’t for all members chipping in we would not be able to provide a great selection of food.
