This morning members from VC Iveagh arrived in Camlough for the annual Hog Run sportive hosted by BCC Camlough CC. The warm welcome began before you got to Carrickcruppin GAC with music from Sound Function DJs blasting out from the carpark. Registration was smooth and easy apart from trying to remember the wife’s phone number. Plenty of friendly faces pointing you towards the coffee and biscuits, great start to the day for us but maybe not so for the Hog who was already well on the go. Briefing and of to the mass start on the main road towards Newry before turning left and what seemed like the last downhill bit before Newtownhamilton. I thought the climbing was great but Wendy used words I can’t repeat to describe my assessment of the route before we signed up. Silverbridge for the mid way stop topping up on biscuits and sweets before a quick run into Dundalk. Some tired legs found strength they didn’t know they had for the climb through Ravensdale with the Hog on everyones mind. The sun shone and before you knew it Camlough lake was beside you, just a few wee climbs and the run downhill into Camlough. Great welcome back and the Hog we all rode 50 miles to enjoy. Great day BCC Camlough CC, thank you and see you again next year. Big thanks to JMC Cycles for the mechanical support, thankfully did not need your services but good to know you were there. Best marshalled event I have ever attended, thanks for making the day fun and safe.
