With the warmer weather and blue sky’s, there was a great turn out for this midweek test on one of the faster routes within the VCI calendar. With the good weather continuing from the weekend before temperatures of 17c made for pleasant conditions, however making this a real test was a mild to strong NE wind that would hamper the outward leg and at times assist on the return. With several choosing to go with full disc wheels the wind was a constant concern and one that had to be given respect.
Once again it was great to see huge support with 11 Club riders taking part amongst the 29 visitors. The riders of SMCC, Dromore CC, Apollo, Clan Eireann, TVR, CRC, Portadown CC, ACT, Phoenix CC, and WDW have our gratitude for their continued support.
Top of the pile tonight were 2 class acts. Chris McGlinchy CRC, off early ripped up the road with a time of 21.53 with Thomas Martin just over a minute and a half back at 23.27, both massive times in hard conditions. On a Club front there has been some fantastic competition this year, within a very potent group whom tonight again were out to sort out a pecking order, that has seen some change. Massive well done to Mark Jonty Johnston whom hit the big notes tonight with a 24.08 (same as last outing) 16 seconds quicker than Neil Seffen.
Big efforts by everyone were needed tonight, not only physically, but also mentally, with the right tempo to overcome the conditions.. Do you fight hard into the wind on the route out and hope you can recover with the wind on your back home, or do you keep it steady working on your heart rate. Massive well done to all. Well earned points tonight
