It’s a busy fortnight

Its a busy fortnight ahead for VC Iveagh with several events planned to finish out this year’s planned activities and club calendar. Volunteers and assistance from all members is essential and as ever kindly appreciated, as we look forward to welcoming friends and cyclists from all over to join us close out our season.

1st Sept – 10 mile ITT Rathfriland Road

neil

The season draws to a close with the top 4 (Simon, Gordy,Neil S, Ronnie) in the club league all well placed to win this season’s title dependant on final race placings. It’s so tight at the top with 6 points separating the lead contenders, and with this popular circuit hosting the final race this year, its likely to be fast with a real shoot out on the night.  The visitors league also finishes and again there are several well placed to take the win and prize donated by our sponsor this year “Rices Hotel” Poyntzpass. Event starts sharp at 7.00pm with sign on from 6.30pm. Rear lights advisable. Full current league placings and points can be viewed by opening the Race League Web section.

4th Sept – Iveagh 50 Sportive

Our annual Sportive will run once again as our season closer. On offer are two routes with the main route 50 miles suitably challenging most levels of ability and maybe a little more than that suitable to the beginner. Our second route is just under 27 miles and this time, more suited to novice level or for those simply short on miles or time. Both routes feature rolling hills on both A and B class roads and have a refreshment break in Katesbridge. Full details and registration are now open and available on http://www.entrycentral.com Proceeds of this event will go to the Cancer Fund for Children.

10th Sept – Club Car Wash

In a move to raise further charitable funds for the Cancer  Fund for Children, club members are providing the man power for the tended Car Wash, at South Down Feeds on the Rathfriland / Banbridge Road, between 10 am and 4 pm. All proceeds will go directly to the charity and in order to do so we fully acknowledge and thank South Down feeds for the generous loan of their facilities, wash materials and equipment.  So let’s hope for some good weather and maybe the boys could just rival the chippendales!

Your support as ever is most welcome.
