This weekend saw a great turnout of VC Iveagh numbers on both the Saturday and Sunday club runs but it was a tale of very different days. Saturday saw the first real signs of winter with sleet, snow and a north wind that chilled to the bone. It was certainly a day to test newly purchased winter clothing and make sure the bikes were up to the rigors that lie ahead.
Sunday on the other hand was absolutely glorious with barely a cloud in the sky however; it certainly wasn’t any warmer than the Saturday run even though sunglasses were the order of the day. We had two separate groups depart on Sunday morning, our normal Bun Runners and a second group just getting miles into their legs. It’s great to see the club has grown so much in such a short period that we can implement two routes and cater for new and returning riders.
With Winter League points up for offer it seems everyone is determined to climb the leader board and get involved, and with the initiative all about camaraderie it’s great to see.
Yes, Saturday morning was indeed a cold one however with the large turnout and steady rotation of riders and banter it was long until we warmed up. The coffee stop in Moria was still very welcome just the same.
